The Open division of the Maritime Closed snooker championship concluded with Rick Leon defending his title with an emphatic 5-0 win over runner-up David Boone. Rick also picked up the $25 tournament high run prize with a break of 63 in his second round match against Shawn Fequet. Semi-finalists were Jacques Cote and Billy Martin, who each lost 4-3 to Leon and Boone respectively. Leon has now qualified for the Canadian Snooker Championships coming up next spring in Toronto. There were 32 players vying for this year's Open title, one of the highest turnouts for this event ever. Thank you to Century Snooker Club in New Glasgow for hosting the event weekend, and special thanks to Dale Brimicombe for his organizing and directing efforts.
